How current are the prices?
Every price carries the month it was checked, and each article shows its last-checked date under the byline. We re-verify the practical sections — costs, permits, opening hours — at least once a year, and when something has changed we correct it on the article with a dated note rather than editing it away. If you find something out of date, tell us and we will check it that week.
Do you accept free trips?
No. Everything is paid for at the normal rate. On the rare occasion an exception is unavoidable it is disclosed in the article's first paragraph. See our Editorial Policy for the detail.
Why don't you cover more places?
Because we go, and going takes time. We publish a small number of substantial articles rather than a large number of thin ones, and we would rather have a short archive that holds up than a long one that does not.
Are the recommendations affiliate links?
Not within article text. Where a link in a resources list pays us, it is marked as such.
Can I republish an article?
Not in full. You are welcome to quote up to 200 words with a link and attribution. For anything longer, email us — we say yes more often than not, particularly for non-commercial and educational use.
Can I use your photographs?
Ask first. Some are ours and some are licensed from photographers who set their own terms, so we cannot give blanket permission.
Can I translate an article?
Yes, with permission and a link to the original. We ask to see the translation before it goes live, and we will credit you.
Do you offer trip planning?
No. We are a publication, not an agency, and we do not take commission from anyone you might book with. That is the point.
Will you answer a specific question about a trip?
Often, yes, if it is a question the article should have answered. We read everything sent to us; we cannot promise individual itinerary advice.
How do I unsubscribe from the newsletter?
One click, link at the bottom of every issue, immediate. No survey, no "are you sure."
What data do you collect?
Aggregate page counts and, if you subscribe, your email address and language preference. Nothing else, and nothing is shared. See our Privacy Policy.
Something in an article is incorrect. What now?
Please tell us. Use the contact form or reply to any newsletter. We correct on the article with a dated note, and we do not quietly edit.
I'm mentioned in an article and would rather not be.
Email us and we will remove or anonymise the reference. We will not ask you to justify it.
You wrote about my business and got it wrong.
Same process. Send the correction and any evidence, and we will check it and publish the fix. We do not remove critical coverage that is accurate, but we correct anything that is not.
