We sell one thing: a single, clearly marked sponsorship slot in our weekly newsletter. That is the entire commercial offering, and this page explains why.
No display advertising. No sponsored articles. No affiliate links in editorial. No access to subscriber data, ever, including to sponsors.
This limits our revenue and it is a deliberate trade. Readers can trust that an article recommending a guesthouse was not paid for, because there is no mechanism by which it could have been.
We are new, and we would rather say so than quote a number we cannot stand behind. Here is what we will and will not tell you.
What we will send you, on request: the current subscriber count, the open rate on the last three issues, and the click rate on the last sponsor slot — as exported figures, dated, with no rounding up. If a number is small we will send the small number.
What we will not do: quote a projected audience, count a page view as a reader, or describe our list as "engaged" without showing you what that means. We do not have a demographic breakdown because we do not collect one, and we are not going to start collecting one in order to sell advertising.
What we can describe honestly: the newsletter goes to people who asked for long articles about specific places and read them to the end. It is a list built one article at a time, with no swaps, no purchased addresses and no co-registration. That is the whole of the claim.
If your budget needs a guaranteed reach figure, we are the wrong publication this year, and we would rather tell you that now than take the booking.
One sponsor per issue, placed above the editorial content, marked SPONSOR. 60 words, one image, one link. We write nothing on your behalf and we do not edit your copy beyond checking it is accurate.
Rates depend on the issue and the length of the booking. Get in touch and we will send the current rate card.
Operators, accommodation, transport, equipment, publishers, insurers, language schools, and anything else our readers plausibly use.
We decline: anything marketing wildlife interaction that involves captive animals, "voluntourism" placements in orphanages or schools, cryptocurrency and trading products, and any operator subject to an unresolved safety investigation.
Slots are booked at least three weeks ahead and we run a maximum of one travel-adjacent sponsor from the same category per month. You will be told which issue you are in, but not what it contains — sponsors have no visibility of editorial before publication.
After your issue goes out we send you the opens, clicks and unsubscribes for that issue, as recorded, whatever they are. We do not report anything about individual subscribers, to you or to anyone else.
Email us with the product, the market you want to reach and your preferred month. We will tell you honestly if we think our readers are the wrong audience — this happens perhaps a third of the time and saves everyone money.
